Amanda is puzzled why the airline ticket Simon bought for her hasn't arrived. Liz and Valerie wants to set up Vic with a friend of Valerie's from the country. Lorna and Eric host a first birthday party for their granddaughter, Prue. Valerie is concerned she's not "showing" and denies she is having food cravings but serves up curried sardines when Claire and Tony come over for dinner. Valerie is eager to introduce her friend to Vic but Nicole must leave Amanda's farewell party early to catch a flight. Vic informs Amanda that Simon has drowned in a boating accident.©tzuk

Spooked by Amanda's loss, Valerie asks Jeff not to take any unnecessary risks on the job but he tells her it's a risk he's willing to take and a desk job is out of the question. Roy recruits Valerie to help train his puppy, VC, after his mother injures herself walking the dog.©tzuk

Episode 240

Vic doesn't know how to handle Amanda, who has returned to work, or whether she is coping. Mike tries to comfort Amanda only for her to receive a break-up letter from Simon that was sent before his death. Liz thinks Vic should give JJ special treatment since he and Valeria and expecting a baby. Detectives close in on Hewitt, tracking him to the apartment of his ex girlfriend who has been seeing his rival, Sam Marchant, while Hewitt was out of the picture. An armed altercation between the two men is interrupted by Mike and JJ but Hewitt escapes. While the police are hunting for the injured Hewitt, he breaks into a woman's house and holds her at gunpoint. Hewitt holds up a bank and shoots a young constable before JJ stops him. Valerie is at the station when the call comes in and collapses after hearing Jeff was injured.©tzuk

Lorna takes an interest in the welfare of the constable injured in the bank robbery. Roy brightens Valerie's mood by giving her VC, his police dog in training. Mike and Amanda cross a line.©tzuk

Amanda asks Mike to keep their new relationship a secret. Vic arranges a special commendation of valour for Jeff but he surprises his colleagues by declining to accept the award for just doing his job.©tzuk

Matters escalate when the young thief turns his guns on the syndicate's higher ups. Valerie and JJ's colleagues pressure him into accepting the valour award. Danni attempts to play peacemaker for her bickering parents. The detectives find their shooter/bomber only to realise there's more to the case. Danni's father is bashed and mugged.©tzuk

The detectives scour the streets for amphetamine dealers after a series of break-ins at pharmaceutical companies. Jeff's friend, a part-time athletics coach struggling with old injuries, tries to keep his up-and-coming track star on the straight and narrow. However, after betting his family's savings on a race, he wants a victory whatever the cost. Doug Francis sheepishly admits to his wife that he's not cut out for life in the city and the pair return home to the farm. Tony asks Eric to talk to Claire about not taking on a new job. He's reluctant to get involved and has no better luck than Tony in changing Claire's mind. Jeff leaves planning for his and Valerie's wedding anniversary up to Roy.©tzuk

Annoyed at his suspect being released by Vic (especially after he hit him), JJ redoubles his effort to take down the drug dealers. Fleming tries to convince his star runner to race clean but he's too late. The boy wins the race but later collapses and dies at a party causing Fleming to be scared straight in dealing with his own addiction. Amanda is assigned to track down a missing garden hose. Claire informs Tony's she accepted the job only to learn she must to go away for the weekend to a conference. Valerie thinks Jeff is seeing another woman and her suspicions are seemingly confirmed when she sees a secret package (her anniversary gift) delivered to Jeff at the station. Jeff learns of Valerie's theory and has Roy tell her where he's meeting his "other woman" for dinner as a ruse to get Valerie to a surprise anniversary dinner.©tzuk

Jeff keeps close tabs on his jockey the night before a big race to keep him out of the pubs. All is for naught as the jockey falls off Jeff's race-leading horse. Tony relents when Claire decides against attending the conference. Liz meets a new man in the middle of a rain storm.©tzuk

Amanda's investigation into reports of a peeping tom leads the team to uncover Scott's connection to the robber and the prowler. To Eric's annoyance, Vic gets on board with Roy's message system. When red tape threatens to delay things, Roy builds them himself. Valerie volunteers to look after baby Prue while Claire is away at the conference. Liz's new man, Jerry Barnes, balks at meeting her policeman brother and admits he's just come out of jail. Prue becomes ill and must be taken to hospital.©tzuk

Liz invites Jerry over for an awkward dinner with Vic and the Johnsons. Afterwards, Vic's wallet goes missing.©tzuk

When Vic finds his "lost" wallet in his car, Liz demands he apologise to Jerry for assuming he stole it. Vic puts Eric in charge of Operation Flatfoot to catch a man responsible for a series of assaults in a park. Valerie and Caesar interrupt another assault but when Roy and Tony arrest a suspect, they aren't aware the meek man is not the violent attacker they are after. Mike and Danni investigate the escort agency where one of the victims works. With Liz busy with Jerry, Roy gives his ballet tickets to Valeria and Jeff who comes away scandalised by the "obscene" performance. Prue is released from hospital.©tzuk

The investigation into the escort agency yields a suspect with a violent criminal history. With the police on his tail, Max Dyer turns on the agency boss who hired him to keep his girls' in line and then takes his ex captive while he plans his escape. When Valerie is identified in the newspaper as a witness, Dyer attempts to silence her but Jeff arrives to rescue her. Jeff receives a promotion to the rank of sergeant which will require him to go back into uniform — and be transferred out of Riverside. Roy lets slip to Jerry's new boss that he is an ex con costing him his job. A drunk poet shares his work with crew. Roy mixes up Eric and Tony's lunch orders.©tzuk

She decides to resign from the CAB and go to live with Jerry. Amanda finds a foster home for Minh out in the country only for her to run away again. When Eric tries ginseng to cure his cold, his colleagues are amused to learn it also has acts as an aphrodisiac.©tzuk
