Jack and Michael embark on a five-hour drive to Purgatory Hill to find Lara, a regular caller to Michael's Love Roo show. It's obvious to Helen Jack just wants to avoid a scheduled meeting with a financial planner — but Jack and Michael are convinced Lara is in some kind of trouble. Plus, Michael's enamoured with her sexy voice.

Jess and Darren get home from their honeymoon, anxious to savour their last day together before Darren heads back to the mine. But Matt, newly broken up with Ellie, doesn't notice they would like some "alone" time. Jess asks Natalie to take Matt off their hands by spending the day with him. Natalie agrees reluctantly, but discovers Matt is less of a drip than she thought.

Meanwhile, Helen's sold one of Ellie's sculptures to the financial planner, and they go to check it out in the foyer. Ellie's joy turns to outrage when she discovers it is upside-down. When Hugh refuses to intervene on the grounds it's hardly a police matter, Ellie ropes Helen and Toby into a hair-brained mission to break into the office and turn the sculpture back the right way.

As they drive Michael reveals to Jack he's not sure he wants to be a tour operator forever. Jack's feeling a bit of existential angst himself, and suddenly becomes interested in buying an aluminium dingy he sees on sale, though he's unclear exactly why he needs it. Then they run into some of Michael's mates — a band called Sparrow's Arrows — who sing Jack's hit song to him. What is the universe trying to tell them?

They arrive to discover Lara is fine — the crisis Michael heard on air was just her daughter eating a cockroach. Unfortunately for Michael, the passion he heard in Lara's voice is not for earthly things, and the lads find themselves helping her build a chapel. Unexpectedly, it turns out to be quite a spiritual experience, but when Lara suggests they stay for another day to paint the chapel — and to be baptised in the freezing reservoir - they make a hasty getaway.

On the way home Michael reveals to Jack he wants passion in his life, and his true passion is music. Fatefully, they find Sparrow and his mate broken down by the roadside and offer to drive them to their gig. Arriving at the reserve, they discover they are too late, but Jack has a better idea.

Back at the Baa Bar the whole adventure is suddenly making sense to Jack: Sparrow's Arrows are on stage and the joint is jumping. He wishes they hadn't sampled his hit "Night, Night Baby" and set it to a reggae beat, but you can't have everything.

While Michael is meeting a gorgeous fan of the band inside, Jack introduces Helen to her new dingy, attached to the caravan. They climb in and suddenly they are on a moonlit lake, the water lapping gently at the sides of the boat. Sure it's not going anywhere but neither are they. And what's wrong with that?
