Jack wakes to greet the dawn, high on a hillside with a woman, Tansy. He's feeling good, but he's got an itch. Back at the bar we learn it's a tick. Helen has tweezers, but wants Jack to deal with one problem first — Toby and Michael have a huge bar tab. Jack's eyes glaze over, he'll let Helen handle this one. But when Helen does handle it, she offends the boys, only making things worse. Meanwhile Jack gets the tick out, but something is still not right. He collapses in his room.

Ellie and Matt are going away for a couple of days to a beautiful private waterhole to escape the pressures of Alice. They find that being alone together has pressures of its own. When Ellie learns of Matt's former girlfriend, a surprising jealousy rises up and paradise isn't as much fun as they expected.

Natalie's new lover Will seems too good to be true. So she invites him over to meet her friends. Will turns up for a big meal, catered by Natalie, and when Natalie abandons him so she can cook up a storm, he's left to deal with the suspicions of Toby and Michael by himself.

Meanwhile, Jack's still passed out, tossing and feverish. He starts to hallucinate and goes on a fantasy journey where women appear and disappear, including Helen and Jess.

Just as Ellie and Matt are making up, Ellie gets bitten by a snake. Suddenly it's life and death. Matt, who can't drive, bogs the car. While the pressure bandage holds back the snake venom, they free the car, get out of there, get a signal on the mobile and call for help.

Natalie is shocked when Will dumps her… by e-mail! She calls him and tells him to tell her to her face. So he does. She tells him she came back to The Alice for him. But neither Will nor Natalie are so sure about that.

In hospital, Matt manages to keep Hugh and Toby calm around Ellie. They take the pressure bandage off and wait. Finally the news is good — Ellie will be fine. Things are different now though, Ellie has realised her feelings for Matt are deeper than she thought.

Jack wakes, slightly dazed and confused. He visits Jess at the hospital and promises he can change. Meanwhile, Helen finally sits down again with Toby and negotiates the terms of the bar tab. As they happily come to an agreement, Jack arrives, determined to resolve the situation. He forces Toby and Helen to negotiate exactly the same terms. Jack's back.
