As Martin continues to explore the events surrounding Jasper’s murder, he and Mandy deal with the information that someone at Hummingbird Beach Retreat, possibly Jasper,spiked her drink and drugged her. When long ignored family members confront Martin about an old betrayal, exposing secrets from his past, Mandy begins to question both Martin and their relationship.

Mandy is called into the station a second time for questioning with the discovery of CCTV footage of her arguing with Jasper the night before he was murdered. Detective Scotty Waalitj wonders if Mandy was having an affair with Jasper, got into a dispute, and killed him, all of which she denies although she has no memory. A toxicology report reveals that she was drugged with Rohypnol, the date rape drug, leading to more questions. The arrival of Martin’s nemesis, journalist Doug Monkton, raises the stakes but through him Martin learns missing Port Silver businessman Amory Ashton was trying to buy and develop Hummingbird Beach at the time of his death. With tension between Martin and Mandy becoming harder to ignore, Mandy visits Martin’s aunt Josie and learns that as a teenager Martin wrote a scathing article about Port Silver which was picked up by mainstream press and led to Martin’s estrangement from his only remaining blood relative, his uncle Vern. Mandy confronts Martin about why he has kept so much of his life secret from her, but the moment is interrupted when police arrive revealing they’ve found the knife that killed Jasper and a witness who claims they saw Mandy dispose of it. As Mandy is arrested for murder by Scotty her worst nightmare plays out: Doug’s news crew captures it all and she is once again thrust into the media spotlight.
