SeaChange: profiles

Tom Long as Angus Kabiri

Angus Kabiri

Angus Kabiri is a dark and exotic looking man with considerable physical presence. Yet he is a gentle soul, non-assuming, modest and quietly spoken. He and Diver Dan live life at a similarly unrushed pace. He is an excellent surfer and spends many hours pursuing the perfect wave. It actually comes as a shock to most people, especially Laura, that he is the Clerk of Courts.

Tom Long, originally a farmboy from Benalla, worked as a jackaroo and shearer after leaving school. He left Australia to travel through India for six months with some Afghan refugees and then spent time in the UK and US, riding a bicycle across the States from Los Angeles to South Carolina. Tom worked as a wool buyer in South Carolina. When he returned to Australia, he tried wool-buying, selling insurance and even piloting light aircraft before considering acting. Following a friend's advice, he applied for the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) — his successful audition, his first acting experience.

Tom graduated from NIDA in 1994. His television credits include G.P., A Country Life, The Last Of The Ryans, Kings In Grass Castles and Doing Time for Patsy Cline. He also has numerous theatre credits.

'I'm enjoying being a part of SeaChange. Angus is a good character and a nice guy.' — Tom Long
