Cat Attack

Episode 1.14
Sun, October 19, 2014
Written by Chris Hawkshaw
Directed by Arnie Custo

In the Peruvian jungle, Sam, Rikki and Harry are tagging along with Kingston and local ranger Miguel, who's attempting to trap a dangerous rouge jaguar. Sam is very disappointed when he learns that Rikki, Harry and he must stay in safety at a rough rangers' hut while Kingston and Miguel wait for the jaguar in a hide. But when Harry starts to feel sick after touching a poisonous frog he captured earlier, and they discover the jaguar is stalking outside the front of their hut, Sam decides he must act as bait for the jaguar so Rikki can get Harry to Kingston. They try to get away, but the jaguar finds them and is about to pounce on Harry, forcing Sam to shoot it with a blowgun. The startled jaguar runs away. This buys the trio some time to flee to the hide, but they are still pursued by the angry jaguar. Kingston is astonished when the boys appear at the hide, and Miguel is thrilled they've led the jaguar to him. He also reveals that Harry's frog is not poisonous at all, and he probably just ate a bad batch of guinea pig at breakfast — gross!

Snake Siege

Episode 1.15
Sun, October 26, 2014
Written by Graeme Farmer
Directed by Julie Money

An approaching cyclone causes school to be closed early, so Sam, Rikki, April, Harry and Jordan go to the Fox house to ride it out. The Fox parents are away and Nathan is stuck up the coast unable to get home in time before the storm hits. Sam's in charge. As Sam organises the cyclone-proofing of the house, he realises Jordan is not with them. Sam finds him in Firefox Control rescuing a pet carpet python and brings them inside. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning cleaves a branch off a tree and sends it crashing in through the window, and, unbeknownst to the kids, a storm-tossed bird and highly deadly coastal taipan enter the house. Rikki freaks out when he sees the bird, and in the chaos the python escapes from its terrarium. Sam moves everyone into the bathroom when he glimpses the taipan. Then a blackout occurs. The house is in darkness. Sam puts on his wetsuit so the taipan won't be able to detect his body heat. He corners the taipan and places it in the terrarium, but realises that he's caught the harmless python — the taipan is still on the loose! The taipan drops from a bathroom ceiling vent into the bath, so Sam and Rikki cover it with towels and place all the frozen food from the kitchen freezer over it. The taipan chills down to a dormant state and Sam maneuvers it into a bag. Nathan arrives home to find Sam with everything under control.

On a mountain biking trip with Josie and Rikki in Tasmania, Sam accidentally rides off a cliff and lands on a ledge, and his bike crashes to the bottom of a gully. Sam discovers a cave in the cliff face and clambers into it. Rikki volunteers to go down and help Sam. In the cave, Sam and Rikki come across an injured Tasmanian Devil and must get it to safety. They come out of the cave to find that a bushfire is heading their way. The trio clamber down the mountain to a paddock at the bottom and see a ute across the other side, but as they head towards it an angry bull begins to charge them. They make it to the ute just in time and drive off. As the fire gets closer, Rikki gets phone reception — at last — but Sam hits a pothole and Rikki's phone goes flying out the window. They realise they aren't going to be able to out drive the flames. They're in danger! When all of a sudden a fire-fighting helicopter flies overhead and dumps water on the fire behind them. Written by Chris McCourt
Directed by

Sam, Rikki, Emma and Laura are trekking in Norway to see the spectacular Northern Lights. After Sam and Rikki go back to the cabin to get Rikki's herrings, they get stuck in a windy storm. Luckily they find shelter, but also manage to wake up a hibernating bear (and record its growling in the process), so they're forced to flee, with the bear following them across the snowy pine forest. Sam and Rikki attempt to climb a slippery rock face, but the bear swipes at them from below. Sam throws Rikki's herrings to the bear to distract it, buying them time to escape. Meanwhile at the hut, Emma and Laura find themselves surrounded by wolves, but the wolves suddenly disappear without explanation. Sam and Rikki finally make it to the hut, but the bear has found them again (and is also the reason the wolves left). Frustrated that he may not see the Northern Lights, Rikki gets angry and climbs on Sam shoulders, making them look like one big scary creature. When they play the growling they recorded earlier they scare the bear away. Emma finds a tin of herrings for Rikki in the hut. At last, they can enjoy the Northern Lights.

What's worse, Sam and Josie see that a hungry cougar is now following them. With Nathan worsening, they set up their tent. Sam and Josie take another look at his bite and discover that it was actually caused by a scorpion. But Nathan still needs urgent medical attention so Sam resolves to follow a sea bird, hopefully back to the beach, and lure the cougar away. As Sam makes it to the beach, the cougar blocks his path. Desperate, Sam picks up a branch and as he waves it, notices the cougar flinch. Sam charges at the cougar and to his surprise, it takes off, leaving Sam free to get Nathan the help he needs.

Luckily, they come across Cooper, but in trying to find their bearings, Rikki accidentally injures Cooper and she can't walk — so they improvise a stretcher and carry her. Finally at the bottom, they discover that not only are they on the wrong side of the mountain to the camp, but there is an aggressive white rhino eyeing them. They seek refuge in a hut, but the rhino charges them and gets its horn stuck in the door. Directed by Arnie Custo

Sam, Nathan and Rikki are hiking in a Pacific Northwest state pine forest when they come across Parker — an injured man who Sam thinks has fallen off his horse, the name of which Parker keeps repeating: Black Prince. Sam goes looking for the horse while Nathan and Rikki look after Parker. Out in the forest, Sam falls into a covered trapping pit and is sprayed by a skunk. He climbs out and he is almost crushed by the hooves of an angry horse. Is this Black Prince? Sam manages to get a rope around the horse's neck, but it drags him along before he lets go and lands in a patch of poison ivy. Sam uses his oats to make a salve for his itching skin and realises he's lost. He sees a campfire at the top of a hill, but discovers it's really a brush- fire in the middle of a light plane crash site. Sam puts the fire out, and follows crying noises into the bush to discover a cute little kitten. Upon hearing bear growls, Sam takes the kitten into a cave — and realises it's actually a panther cub, not a kitten! This must be Black Prince! The next day, Rikki and Nathan wake to find Parker gone. Sam arrives and they all follow Parker's distant calls into the forest. They find him staggering through the forest but Parker has recovered somewhat and confirms that Black Prince is the panther cub Sam has rescued. When the group start trekking out they discover a forest fire has started back up near the crash and they are trapped. Sam spots the wild horse and, knowing it will head for water or safe ground, they follow it. A rescue chopper flies overhead, and Sam uses the alfoil from their porridge packets to shine light up through the trees and get the chopper's attention. They follow the chopper to safety — Sam has saved the day.

The twins contact Sam from Firefox Control to tell him there's a giant crocodile in the backyard. Sam investigates, but all he sees is a toy, inflated crocodile. But this is just another one of Sam's hallucinations, he soon realises the crocodile is real, and runs for Firefox Control. Sam calls the authorities but no-one, including his parents, can come out due to flooding in the town. They set themselves to wait it out but Jordan has an asthma attack, and urgently needs his puffer medication — which is in the house. Sam gets past the crocodile and gets Jordan his medication. With the flood approaching, Sam plans to get the twins up into the safety of the house ceiling. But when he re-enters the house he comes face-to-face with the giant crocodile. Sam and Rikki are in Alaska for a wilderness adventure, led by their Native Alaskan guide, Jacob. On the way to the ice-fishing hut, a half-dog, half-wolf hybrid confronts them. The boys manage to outrun the hybrid and lose Rikki's mobile in the process — but Rikki reveals he's got a back-up phone. As Sam and Rikki have fun ice-fishing, Jacob leaves to organise the dog sledding team. After a while, the boys realise a whiteout has struck the lake. They cook the fish that Sam has caught, but soon discover it has attracted a hungry polar bear, which starts pushing the hut across the lake. Sam and Rikki try to scare it off with loud noises, which only make it more curious, and fire, but their match gets soaked. Suddenly the ice of the lake starts to crack and the boys realise they have to get off the lake — fast. When Rikki breaks his back-up phone, Sam uses its parts to make a reflective mirror. They scare the polar bear with a blinding flash, and make a run for it. Back in the freezing forest, they make a shelter and use other parts of the phone to start a fire, only to end up sharing it with the hybrid! Sam and Rikki shout at it, scaring it off, just as Jacob arrives. The next day, on their way to a secret fishing spot, Rikki finds his original phone — only to break it again when he hears howling. Sam tries to cheer him up — it's more useful that way.
