Brett and Benny meet Cassandra, a new arrival from ORCA's sister station near Florida. Against Brett's advice, Cass takes out a sailboat, but with a storm coming and a damaged sail, she seeks shelter on Neri's island.

The following day, Neri locates an entrance to the buried spaceship that has been uncovered by the storm. Fetching Brett and Jason from ORCA, the three return to the island where Cass has started exploring. When the boys arrive on the island, Cass sees them with Neri then quickly fixes the sail on her boat and heads back to ORCA. Discovering signs of Cass's stay on the island, the three pursue Cass to learn what she has seen. Distracted by the sight of Neri surfacing in the water ahead of her boat, Cass is struck by her boat's boom and is knocked unconscious.

Back on ORCA, Jason and Brett anxiously await word on Cass and are pleased to learn she has amnesia and cannot rememeber anything of what happened to her. Jason tells Brett it will be up to him to stay close to Cass to make sure she doesn't reveal anything about Neri should she regain her memory. Hoping to keep Kal from making any return trips to ORCA, Jason suggests to Neri that she show him around the spaceship which he has shown interest in. Winston's inability to swim is made an issue by Kellar and UBRI threatening his job on ORCA as they want to replace him with one of their own people. Fortunately, Benny discovers a provision in the regulations forcing the commander to give Winston one week to meet the qualifications.

Neri brings Jason and Brett back to the spaceship where she and Kal have discovered an interface with the ship's computer that gives Neri access the ship's logbook which was written by Kal's mother. Neri translates the message which explains the ship's crash onto the Opal Planet and reveals a mission that will require the assembly of nine pieces of "Synchronium" which, once found and put together, will create a machine with the power to heal the Earth's oceans.

With the device intended to guide them to the Synchronium pieces damaged, Neri asks Jason and Brett to help her look for the Synchronium on the condition that they must not tell anyone else — not even their mother.

Believing that Neri will be close by to assist him, Winston passes his swimming test, unaware she has had to turn back to return Kal to the island. UBRI's research into the arrival of Neri's spacecraft returns some interesting results putting them on the same hunt for the Synchronium.©australiantelevision.net

Neri senses something is wrong with the oceans but cannot be more specific. At Kal's suggestion, Jason and Brett begin searching H.E.L.E.N. for reports of UFOs and meteorite impacts that may help them locate the Synchronium pieces. Successful in their search, Jason, Brett, and Neri venture inland to a location pinpointed by Kal and retrieve the first piece of Synchronium.
