Produced by the Gibson Group for TVNZ with the assistance of NZ On Air
Created by: David Brechin-Smith Developed by: David Brechin-Smith, Paula Boock, Donna Malane, Scott McJorrow Producers: Dave Gibson, Chris Tyson Directors: Nathan Price, Danny Mulheron Writer: David Brechin-Smith Aired: 2007 The Hothouse follows the complicated lives of a group of 20-somethings who share a run-down, but very cool, inner-city flat. Three are cops and one's a lawyer, but this isn't your average cop show. They struggle with being 'upholders of the law' but their personal dilemmas are far more intriguing than their day jobs. Into the flat comes a rogue, a charmer, who's on the wrong side of the law (but the others don't know that yet). His arrival sparks a rapid chain of events that disrupt the already delicate balance of the house. Confrontational, contemporary drama mixed with moments of black humour, The Hothouse explores themes of loyalty, morality, friendship and, of course, love. (7 x 45min)
