Luke Ford's Hollywood career wrapped up

FROM McLeod's Daughters to a starring role in the new The Mummy 3, it looks like Aussie actor Luke Ford has a hot Hollywood career wrapped up.

The 26-year-old is poised to take over the big-budget Mummy franchise if producers find they can't afford its current star Brendan Fraser.

With the latest movie set to open around the world from next month, Ford's future role will depend on the blockbuster's box office takings.

"They've basically said that if it takes $80 million to $100 million in the opening weekend, they can afford Brendan again," said Ford, who plays Fraser's son Alex.

"If it takes about $50 million I may take over the series."

But it wasn't all bean-counting for the The Black Balloon actor, who had his own adventures filming in Canada and China for six months.

"I also flooded my hotel room. Actually most of the hotel, too," he said.

"We were in Montreal on the first week of the shoot and everyone took me out for drinks. I had a few too many and fell asleep in the shower of my hotel room. My bum clogged the drain and I woke up drowning in water. I opened the door and the whole room was entirely flooded."

Fearing he'd be fired for the mishap, Ford tried turning cleaner.

"I went to put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door to clean it up, but being hungover I locked myself out, naked."
