McLeod's star made in The Glades

FORMER McLeod's Daughters favourite Matt Passmore is back in Australia for summer after wrapping the first series of his hit US TV drama, The Glades.

Passmore has fallen on his feet in the US playing a former Chicago cop who moves to a small Florida town.

Passmore's girlfriend, Rachael Carpani, who was also a McLeod's Daughters favourite, joined him as a semi-regular character towards the end of the series.

"After I was cast, they had to cast the lead girl," Passmore said. "Rach and I were about to fly home, so she was the first girl they saw and they fell in love with her.

"But she was way too young to play a character with a 12-year-old kid.

"They remembered her and then when they found out she was visiting they tailored a character for her.

"It gave me a good excuse to keep her in Miami for a while and we got to flirt with each other on screen - which was kind of weird.

"It was like, 'Oh, is this work'?"

Passmore was a guest at Foxtel's 100 Days of Summer launch in Sydney on Tuesday, where writer Tara Moss was also among the invitees.

Passmore had flown in from Canada where Carpani is filming a TV pilot called Against the Wall. "She is up in Toronto freezing her butt off playing, ironically, a Chicago cop," he said.

"It has been about a year and a half since I have been back here.

"I'm going to stay here for Christmas and then I'll head back and start the next series in late February."
