TV series an instant hit

THE South Australian-made series McLeod's Daughters has proved a hit with viewers right across the nation.

Filmed near Gawler, the drama easily won its Wednesday 7.30pm to 8.30pm timeslot for Channel 9 in every metropolitan market, averaging 1.92 million viewers.

In Adelaide, McLeod's Daughters averaged 209,000 viewers with the next best 124,000 for Channel 7's Ground Force/Hot Property double.

McLeod's Daughters is the story of two sisters who pull together an all-female workforce when they inherit a vast outback cattle property.

It stars Jessica Napier, Sonia Todd, Lisa Chappell, Bridie Carter and John Jarratt.

"It was a great start for McLeod's; we've put a lot of work into it," the Nine Network's director of programming John Stephens said.
