In the small town of Geraldton, Charlie passionately embraces the anarchic punk ethos instilled by his revered late father, Cal. He dreams of escaping town to become a rock star, along with his cover band Cemetery Drive, with bandmates Bec and Rocky. However, beneath his rebellious exterior, Charlie conceals a deeply guarded secret — he’s gay. He spends his evenings cruising toilet blocks for anonymous sexual encounters with FIFO workers and DL trade. But when his hook-up with Kevin, a married man, is discovered by his wife, Alicia, it leads to Charlie being outed on social media. Just as he feels his world is falling apart, he encounters Matt, a young farmer, and an unexpected connection forms.

Zeke grapples with invisibility, body image and selfworth within his conservative Italian family, always overshadowed by his golden older brother, Lorenzo, feeling more like the perfect disappointment than the perfect son in his mother, Anna’s eyes. Zeke is bullied by school jock, Hammer, but can’t help but be aroused by his abuser. His sole escape lies in private webcam sessions… with men. Meanwhile, Charlie experiences a surge of excitement after his first night with Matt, sensing a genuine connection. However, Charlie’s emotional high takes a hit when Matt unexpectedly leaves him ‘on read,’ and is caught in a lie when he turns up at a Cemetery Drive gig to witness Charlie’s humiliation.

Rochelle is hungry to move her relationship forward with Hammer and is surprised to discover that maybe he’s not ready. When his masculinity is threatened and his anxiety is triggered at the drivein, he finds support in the most unlikely of places — Zeke. Meanwhile, Charlie and Matt take their first tentative step toward having a relationship, albeit one hidden in the shadows of the drive-in, much to Charlie’s chagrin. At the drive-in, when he forms a surprising connection with fellow Italian classmate, Sabrina, Zeke finds an unexpected opportunity to prove to his family that he’s normal.

Charlie grapples with conflicting emotions and confusion following his date with Matt. As he endures Saturday detention with Mulroney, Charlie has to learn about compromise and how love may not take the form he expected. Karla’s birthday party unfolds as a surprise in more ways than one when Hammer finds himself torn between his mother and his aunty, Doris, as well as a guest appearance from someone who wants to set the record straight.
